WASHINGTON (KTRK) -- From the dress, to the seating arrangements, to the flowers, most brides want their weddings to be perfect. And for more and more brides, perfection now includes pre-ceremony plastic surgery.
The American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS) says woman now list weddings as the number one special event they're taking part in as a reason for some type of plastic surgery. The most popular procedures before a wedding are temporary procedures such as forehead, cheek, and lip injections.
The AAFPRS also found the age of people undergoing cosmetic procedures is getting younger.
"Our members noted a 28% increase in cosmetic surgery and facial injectables in those under the age of 25 last year, indicating that the face of plastic surgery continues to get younger," said Robert M. Kellman, MD, president of the AAFPRS. "Advances in techniques, reduced recovery times and a growing number of non-invasive anti-aging options make plastic surgery more and more appealing to first-time brides looking for a quick fix prior to their big day."
