MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX (KTRK) -- Tiger Wood's first golf course in America opened to members in the past week and it's only a short drive away from Houston.
Bluejack National is situated on 755 acres up in Montgomery. His other courses are located in Los Cabos and Dubai. The southeast Texas property promises to be more than just a golf destination.
Developers told abc13 they're building Bluejack National as a luxury family resort. Casey Paulson is president of the venture. He told Eyewitness News the space will fill a much needed void in the Houston metro area.
"The special thing about Bluejack National is the topography. It's really crazy, incredible, and wonderful for golf. It's not something you see around Houston. You've got these majestic pines. You've got 150 feet of elevation. You don't see that outside of a major metropolis like Houston," remarked Paulson.
"A lot of people may think it is interesting why would he (Woods) be in Montgomery County, Texas. I really think it speaks to the quality of the land, the project that is here."
Eyewitness News was the first local television station to tour the facility since its opening. While the course is almost finished, the rest of the property will take some time to build out. Developers plan to build a bowling alley, zip lines, and even a "Mini-Fenway Park."
Bluejack National is only open to members. They plan to cap members to 550. If you want more information about the property, visit bluejacknational.com.
