BB's Cafe brings Tex-Orleans flair to Houston

HOUSTON, Texas (KTRK) -- Voted one of the best spots for crawfish in Houston, BB's Cafe has opened its seventh location in the Energy Corridor just in time for mudbug season.

"I really wanted to bring the New Orleans culture to Houston," owner Brook Bassler said, adding that the restaurant was inspired by his grandmother, a Louisiana native.

He opened his first location ten years ago and has been expanding ever since.

"All of our locations look different, but all have the same vibe when you walk in the door," Bassler said.

Interior red brick, tall French doors and Highway 90 signs bring his Tex-Orleans brand to life, along with New Orleans folk artwork and family photos displayed on the walls.

And then, there's the food!

Customer favorites include their spicy boiled crawfish seasoned three different ways and signature dishes like shrimp and grits, crawfish etouffee, po' boys and gumbo.

"From the gumbo to the gravy, we use Maw-Maw's original recipes," Bassler said. "She comes in all the time, checks things out and speaks her mind."

"For people who visit any BB's Café, it makes me feel proud when they connect it with their home, where they are from, their family and friends and leave with a smile on their face," Bassler added.
