BAYTOWN, TX (KTRK) -- When a Baytown man suffered a heart attack while mowing his lawn, Baytown firefighters not only made sure he made it to the hospital. They also finished mowing his lawn for him.
It happened on Tuesday, according to a statement on the city of Baytown's Facebook page. Firefighters even left a message for the patient's wife, which read in part, "We felt bad that your husband didn't get to finish the yard, so we did. We also noticed the padlock to the garage was unlocked so we locked it and placed your key in the mailbox.
Firefighters also let the woman know they would be there for her if she needed them.
"We are very sorry that your husband became ill, we hope he has a speedy recovery," they said. "Let us know if there is anything we can do to help you out."
Sadly, the patient, who has not been identified, passed away.
On the city of Baytown's Facebook page, the city wrote, "All of our City employees are proud to serve the citizens of Baytown, but this is truly special. We couldn't be prouder of our guys from Station 4. Our prayers are with the family at this sad time."
