SHENANDOAH, TX -- College Park battled hard and stayed in the fight on Friday night, but Atascocita eventually delivered the knockout punch.

The Eagles improved to 5-0 this season with a 46-21 victory over the Cavaliers, who dropped to 1-4, at Woodforest Bank Stadium in the District 16-6A opener for both teams.

After trailing by as many as 24 points, College Park rallied and cut the Eagles' lead down to 10 with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game. Atascocita was able to fend off the Cavs' rally, however, and found the end zone twice more as the clock continued to melt away.

"We're 1-0, and the last time Atascocita was in this district, I think things maybe didn't go so well," Atascocita coach Craig Stump said. "We're not the same old place anymore. We're a really young team, and it feels good to be 1-0."
