Researchers surveyed 4,300 students from both public and private schools to determine the effect of homework load on high school students in and out of the classroom. They found on average students do more than three hours of homework each night.
The research found that excessive homework is associated with physical health problems, such as migraines, ulcers, weight loss, and sleep deprivation. Fifty-six percent of students in the study say it's the primary stress issue in their lives.
