One killed in shooting at Sugar Land business

SUGAR LAND, TX

Police say the shooting occurred just after 9am at a business park at 910 Industrial. They say two men stormed into the warehouse area of Global Casework Manufacturing and began arguing with an employee. At some point shots were fired.

It's unclear if both suspects opened fire or just one. Police say Marlon Alexander Palencia Castaneda, 33, of Houston, was shot once in the chest at close range. He died at the scene.

"Witnesses saw the two suspects approach the victim and they got in a verbal altercation which escalated to a weapon being pulled," said Capt. Stuart Denton with the Sugar Land police

The two men are identified as Hispanic males. One was wearing an orange shirt and blue jeans, and the other was wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. They were seen on surveillance video leaving in a light-colored Acura sports utility vehicle.

Anyone with information should call the Sugar Land Police Department at 281-275-2540 or Fort Bend County Crime Stoppers at 281-342-TIPS (8477).
