On Wednesday, Missouri City police were called to the home in the 4600 block of Green Cottage Lane where a woman was reported to be vomiting blood.
When police arrived, they found the woman, identified as Stephanie Kirkpatrick Politte, lying on the master bedroom floor covered in blood and partially clothed.
Investigators say she had suffered a gunshot wound to the head and that a handgun was found nearby.
Her husband, Daniel Mark Politte, was also at the home. After an investigation, he was arrested and charged in his wife's death.
Stephanie Politte taught at The Monarch Institute. The school released a statement on her passing Thursday. It reads, "Stephanie Politte was a brilliant, loving, talented individual who made a difference in the lives of many children and families. This is a huge loss for our community and we are keeping her family in our thoughts and prayers."
