Cody Durden was locked up in the Montgomery County Jail this morning after a judge revoked his bond. He's back in custody, investigators say, after they found him with disturbing pictures of children as young as age five.
Montogmery County Precinct 4 Constable's Office deputies arrested the 25-year-old after serving a search warrant at his home in the 17600 block of FM 1485 in New Caney.
There, they seized a computer with at least 500 images of child pornography. Investigators say some of it depicted disturbing, violent acts against children. Authorities say Durden is also accused of possession of marijuana, as is another man at his home -- the man who apparently owns New Caney Fireworks and A&A Medical Supply.
"As a hardened prosecutor, you just never get used to something like this," Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Warren Diepraam said. "I see a lot of stuff because of my career. It still is so troubling to see children of this age or any age being abused."
Durden was on bond at the time of his arrest last night. In June, he was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography. He was released on $400,000 bond. Among the conditions of that bond: he had to stay off of the internet.
"To me, that's just disgusting for anybody, anywhere. Small town, big town or not," New Caney resident Nick Kirkpatrick said.
Those who live in the small community say it is troubling for them to hear of this arrest and all the children who could be affected.
"It's very important to me to see that people who have problems with children like that get the help they need and the children are protected." New Caney resident Ray Pakkala said.
Investigators say there could be hundreds of child victims. They have not said where the children came from. They're still trying to identify them.
