Police: Woman found in SE Houston home was dead for days

HOUSTON

Houston police officers spent hours at the scene off Kenilwood near Belbay on Thursday, centering their investigation in the one-story home where the victim was found. At about 9am, patrol officers were called to a separate location and told there was possibly a dead body in the Kenilwood home.

When officers showed up at the home, they met with one person inside and asked to check on the woman. They say they then found the victim in a bedroom, dead on the bed. Police say she appeared to have suffered blunt trauma to the head, and she is believed to have been dead for a couple of days.

Police are questioning a family member about the woman's death. Officers have been called to the home in the past.

Neighbor Carol Grigsby told Eyewitness News she used to go for morning walks with the 60-year-old woman. She described the victim as a sweet woman who worked in the medical center.

The victim's identity has not been released. An autopsy will determine the woman's cause of death.
