Lorraine Begazo was born at 11:58pm New Year's Eve at Medstar Washington Hospital. She weighed 5 pounds, 10 ounces. Her brother, Brandon, entered the world three minutes later at 12:01am on New Year's Day, weighing 6 pounds, 4 ounces.
Their mother, Yaleni, is doing just fine.
They're the younger siblings of 18-year-old Dylan Begazo, and their arrival was a blessing to their father, Warren.
"I was kind of sad all these 18 years because, you know, when I leave this planet my son would be alone and that really (broke) my heart," said Warren. "He won't be able to have nephews, nieces and it was really hard for me and that was really one reason why I did this."
"When I was growing up I always asked him for siblings but they never came. He didn't want me to be alone because he said family is what matters, love and family," said Dylan.
It's been a while since Warren has changed diapers. Dylan promises to help.
They weren't the only twins born in separate years. According to ABCNews.com, in Toronto, two fraternal twin sisters were also born in 2013 and in 2014, respectively. At Trillium Health Partners-Credit Valley Hospital, older sister Gabriela Salgueiro was born on Dec. 31, 2013, at 11:52 p.m., weighing 6 pounds, 16 ounces. On Jan. 1, 2014, at 12:00:38 a.m., younger twin Sophia Salgueiro was born, weighing 5 pounds, 13 ounces.
