Mobile home fire kills 69-year-old woman in Montgomery County

HOUSTON

Neighbors reported the fire on Deer Glen West Drive around 5:30om Wednesday. Firefighters say the home was already engulfed in flames when they arrived. It took about 15 minutes to put out the fire.

"Firefighters made an entry into the building to attempt to rescue the victim in the house. The victim was found in the house but she was deceased," Assistant Montgomery County Fire Marshal Scott Berman said.

They found the 69-year-old woman's body in the bathroom, once the fire was out. An autopsy later determined she died from smoke inhalation.

Investigators are still trying to figure out the cause of the fire. The mobile home did not have any working smoke detectors.

The victim was the only person in the home.
