Michael Gary Shannon III of Hull, Texas, surrendered himself to the Liberty County Sheriff's Office Thursday evening. He had been indicted by a Liberty County Grand Jury on September 26 for manslaughter.
According to deputies, Shannon was involved in a wreck on FM 770 at FM 160 in May 2012. A baby died in the crash.
The crash investigation was conducted by another agency, but the warrant for his arrest still had not been served as of this week. LCSO authorities tracked him to Beaumont, calling him to tell him about the warrant. According to Shannon, he was unaware that he had been indicted.
Shannon, 22, promptly turned himself in and remained at Liberty County Jail on Saturday. He is not eligible for bond.
