This happened around 10pm on West Little York and Langham.
Deputies say the truck driver, identified as Douglas Saintlouis, saw someone standing at his rear tire with a knife. He apparently heard air rushing out of his tire, so he got out of his truck and confronted the guy, warning him that he had a concealed handgun license.
The man he confronted took off running and deputies say that's when Saintlouis ran after him, according to police.
"(He) ended up chasing him, and that's when he shot him at the entrance to the church here at the corner," said Sgt. Scott Gill with the Harris County Sheriff's Office.
The victim was shot once in the buttocks. Saintlouis was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
