It happened around 12:20pm on Interstate 10 East eastbound at East Sam Houston Parkway.
Three pickups were involved in the crash. According to witnesses, a Ford pickup clipped the two other vehicles and then proceeded several yards down the highway before it struck the outside barrier wall.
The impact ejected the driver of the Ford pickup over the wall and down the embankment to the feeder road about six feet below.
The driver died at the scene.
