Judge Lee Hamilton on Tuesday ruled the trial of Tiffany Klapheke (klah-PEEK') will remain in Abilene. The defense cited extensive media attention to the case and sought a change of venue.
The woman, who's said she was stressed by Dyess Air Force Base Airman Thomas Klapheke's deployment, faces trial in October.
Their 22-month-old daughter, Tamryn, died last August. The mother was charged with injury to a child and remains in custody over the death blamed on dehydration and malnourishment.
The airman filed for divorce. Tiffany Klapheke lost custody of the couple's two other daughters in the split that became final last month.
