Texas City announces voluntary water restrictions

TEXAS CITY, TX

On Monday afternoon, the city announced voluntary water restrictions and is urging all residents to follow the water usage guidelines.

The city is asking residents with even-numbered addresses to water their lawns on Sundays and Thursdays. Residents living in homes with odd-numbered addresses are being asked to water on Saturdays and Wednesdays.

The says all watering should be done between the hours of 10pm and 4am.

ABC13 Meteorologist Travis Herzog says the city has experienced only trace amounts of rain the last we days and is about 12 inches below normal.

Residents say it seems like it's been hotter and dryer so far this summer.

"Water bill is running crazy high just trying to keep it alive. It's so dry it might as well be hay," Texas City resident Cameron Wadsworth said.
