Big closures starting tonight on Highway 290/610 interchange

HOUSTON

The closures are so that crews can put up more columns for future bridges where the freeways meet. Crews will switch traffic and remove overhead signs this weekend, making room for crews to work on the new bridge supports.

The closures are as follows:

  • From tonight at 9pm until tomorrow at 5am, all main lanes of the 610 North Loop EB at TC Jester will be closed. Drivers will be detoured to the T.C. Jester exit, continue on the eastbound frontage roads to the freeway entrance past Ella.
  • From tonight at 9pm until tomorrow at 5am, the ramps from 290 eastbound to the 510 North Loop EB will be closed. Drivers will be detoured to the Mangum/Dacoma exit, turn left on 18th Street, left on I-610 northbound/eastbound frontage road to freeway entrance past Ella.
  • From tonight at 9pm until Monday at 5am, two alternating lanes of the 610 West Loop NB will be closed from I-10 to Highway 290.
  • From Sunday from 5am until noon, the main lanes of the 610 North Loop WB at TC Jester will be shut down. Drivers will be detoured to the TC Jester exit. For 610, stay on the frontage road and U-turn at Dacoma to the 290 EB frontage road, turn left on 18th Street and enter 610 on the right. For 290, stay on the frontage road to the freeway entrance past Mangun.
Once the traffic switch is completed, travel lanes on the IH 610 West Loop northbound to the US 290 split will have moved to the left, eliminating the inside shoulder lane.
