The approximate cost of a night at the movies for a family of four is $50. You can get a better deal if you catch a matinee or you could just watch this.
Full of energy and ready for fun, the kids are out for the summer. And at Showbiz Cinemas in Kingwood, the popcorn is fresh and the icees are cold!
Licensed day care owner Debbie Kunschick is always looking for inexpenisve things to keep the kids busy.
"It's so costly in the summer anyway for me to go on field trips," Kunschick said.
But this summer, she has plans to take the kids to Showbiz Cinemas, where every Wednesday starting June 19, kids can catch a special kids club feature starting at 10 am. The cost per person is 50 cents.
"I love it, I love it. Can't beat the price," grandmother Judy Barnett said.
"The price is the real beneficial thing for our community. It's only 50 cents for everybody to come to the movies this summer. Kroger has graciously stepped up to sponsor this program which really allows us to do this," said Ted Mandell with Showbiz Cinemas.
As a bonus, Showbiz is also known for its dollar hot dogs.
Over in Tomball at the newly remodeled Premiere Cinemas, the movie theater is launching its Wacky Wednesday summer series. Tickets are free.
"We were able to get a sponser -- the Mcdonald's on Main Street, Store Number 5181 -- and it is wacky that I was able to do this," said Jennifer Mendoza with Premiere Cinemas.
The Wacky Wendesday summer series is every Wednesday starting June 19 through August 7. It's free admission while tickets last for showings at both 9 and 11am.
"It's basically first come, first serve, so if they get early, they get a seat," Mendoza said.
A little further down the road in Tomball, Santikos Theatres just launched its free family movie series to kick off next Wednesday, June 11. It's six weeks of free movies every Tuesday and Wednesday at 10am. The free event is on a first-come, first-served basis.
"It will keep a little more money in my pocket and I could bring her more often," moviegoer Daniel Montemayor said.
Participating Cinemark Theatres are also offering discounted tickets this summer. Locations include Cinemark Theatres in Katy, Pearland, The Woodlands, Webster, Memorial City and Cypress. Dates and times vary per location but prices are a dollar per person or you can pre-purchase a pack of 10 movie tickets for $5.
The Alamo Drafthouse and Regal Entertainment Group also have free screenings this summer. All the movies are all family friendly. They are either rated G or PG.
You can find some online coupons at particpating theaters. Cinemark has one right now for a dollar off any movie snack pack.
