Controlled burn in Chambers County is reason for hazy skies and smoke smell around Houston

A controlled burn-off in Chambers County is causing hazy skies and a smoky smell in the Houston area today.

Winds are apparently blowing the smoke northwest and into our area. The large, controlled marsh grass burn has been burning for the past week.

Officials with the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality tell us they expect the smoke and smell to dissipate by this afternoon.
