The driver of a Toyota RAV4 left the car running outside a Toot'n Totum store in Amarillo Monday morning. According to the Amarillo Globe-News, Luis Acevedo left his newborn nephew in a car seat.
While Acevedo was inside, authorities say someone jumped into the car and started driving away.
Authorities began a search for the vehicle -- but it turned up a short time later outside a local motel. The infant was still inside and unharmed.
Authorities continue to search for the man who tried to drive away with the SUV and the baby.
