Fire destroys three businesses in north Houston

HOUSTON

All of the businesses were housed in a building that burned at a strip mall on North Main at 24th Street. Investigators say the fire started in the attic of a convenience store and quickly spread, causing the roof of the entire building to collapse.

No one was hurt, but firefighters say the building may have to be torn down.

While the exact cause of the fire is under investigation, officials say it appears the origin was some sort of electrical or mechanical failure.
