Teodoro Jovel, 45, is charged with Abandoning a Child. According to Harris County Sheriff's Office investigators, a 7-year-old boy was in the back seat of a white Toyota Camry with the windows up, doors locked and engine off.
A witness noticed the child in the vehicle and contacted deputies. When they arrived, they convinced the child to open the door.
It was at that time that investigators say Jovel returned to the vehicle. He was asked for identification and reportedly refused. There was a short struggle, say deputies, and Jovel was detained.
The child was OK.
