New trees are beginning to grow across Houston, replacing some of the thousands lost in the drought.

Volunteers with Trees for Houston planted native trees in Shepherd Park in northwest Houston Saturday afternoon.

The group provided all the materials and did planting demonstrations for the young volunteers.

Trees for Houston planted 41,000 trees in the city during last year's planting season.
