Police say officers responded to a report of a shooting at 2211 Briley at around 10:30pm Tuesday and found Jessie Shepherd and a second male had been shot. Police say some kind of fight broke out between a large group of people. Witnesses reported five unknown male suspects, with their faces covered, were involved in the shooting and fled the scene on foot northbound on Briley.
Shepherd, 24, suffered gunshot wounds and was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The second male victim, 28, suffered apparent non-life threatening wounds and was transported to Memorial Hermann Hospital.
