The City of Houston gave away 159 free bikes to students at Forest Brook Middle School in northeast Houston today.
The kids had to earn the bikes by improving their grades and attendance under a bike contract they signed with their teachers.
Each child also got a helmet and lesson on bicycle safety. The city partnered with several sponsors to give away eight thousand bikes to students at 35 other schools.
