The U.S. Geological Survey says the 2.5 magnitude quake happened at 11:21 p.m. Thursday and was centered about 5 miles northeast of Waxahachie. The site is 40 miles south of Dallas.
There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries.
A Sept. 11 earthquake in West Texas had a 4.4 magnitude and was centered about 11 miles north-northeast of Snyder.
