A probable cause hearing was held for Marcus Wayne Smith. Investigators say back in July, Smith kidnapped a 27-year-old woman from her apartment, forced her to withdraw money from an ATM and sexually assaulted her. They say he then drove the victim to another location and shot her in the shoulder.
Smith, 35, was taken into custody last week in Beaumont. He is charged with aggravated sexual assault.
His bond was set at $100,000.
