The accident happened around 9:30pm Saturday on Spears Rd. near Old Walters.
Harris County Sheriff's Office deputies say the driver was speeding westbound on Spears, weaving in and out of traffic when he lost control of his older-model Pontiac Trans Am at a curve in the road.
The car crashed into a fence and wrapped around a brick column, crushing the driver's side door.
There were two men inside the car. The driver died at the scene and the passenger was taken to the Ben Taub General Hospital in serious condition.
