Mary Lucille Gutierrez was jailed Friday in Waco on an arson charge, with bond set at $250,000. McLennan County Jail records did not list an attorney for Gutierrez, who was arrested Thursday.
Sheriff's Chief Deputy Randy Plemons says video surveillance shows a woman, later identified as Gutierrez, going in and out of Speegleville Elementary School around 2 a.m. Tuesday when the fire broke out. No damage estimate has been provided by the Midway Independent School District.
Investigators are seeking a motive for the blaze.
Students and staff will attend nearby River Valley Intermediate while their school is repaired.
