Man fatally stabbed outside home for mentally disabled

HOUSTON It happened at a mental care facility on Kerry Glen Circle near Tidwell. Investigators say Jarvis De-Allo Leverett, 35, and Arthur Lee Washington, 52, both patients at the facility, got into an argument over who would go to the store to buy cigarettes.

"A dispute developed between two men over possibly cigarettes and escalated into a physical confrontation when one of them got a knife," said Sgt. Robert Torres with the Houston Police Department.

Washington suffered multiple stab wounds to the upper torso and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Leverett was taken into custody at the scene and police say he admitted to investigators his involvment in killing Washington.

Leverett is now charged with murder.
