Jet in emergency landing in Ky., flies on to Texas

Authorities say an American Airlines flight with 142 passengers and five crewmembers made an emergency landing in Louisville but later continued its route from New Jersey to Texas. No one was injured.

American Airlines flight 2559 reported the emergency around 4:50 p.m. Monday. Jim Faulkner, a spokesman for the airline, said a cockpit indicator indicated a fuel transfer problem and the plane landed as a precaution at Louisville International Airport shortly after 5 p.m.

The MD-80 aircraft later flew on to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. .

The flight originated in Newark, N.J.
