Girl, 8, killed in car accident in W. Houston
HOUSTON
A young girl was killed in a car accident in west Houston.
Police say the driver of a white Chevrolet Yukon, with the 8-year-old female victim as a passenger, was traveling southbound in the 3000 block of North Eldridge Parkway about 8:05pm Sunday when he slowed due to traffic and lost control of the vehicle. The Chevrolet left the roadway, went over a metal guardrail and then slid several yards before coming to a stop. The girl was ejected from the vehicle during the accident and transported to the hospital.
The victim was transported to Memorial Hermann Northwest Hospital where she was pronounced dead. Her identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
The investigation is continuing, according to police.
