Authorities say speed played a role in a deadly accident involving a motorcycle overnight. Police say the rider was traveling at least 100 miles per hour on the Gulf Freeway at the 610 Loop when he crashed into a set of barrels at an exit ramp. The bike bounced across the freeway, hit a guard rail and landed on the other side of the freeway.

The motorcyclist, who police say was wearing a helmet, died at the hospital.
