A 19-year-old man is dead after he and his friends were examining a pistol when it went out, striking him in the chest. Now one of his friends is facing charges. Just after 2pm Friday, the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call reporting that a 19-year-old victim had been shot in the upper chest and was being taken to a local hospital by private vehicle. The driver of the vehicle stopped to meet EMS in the Technology Plaza parking lot in The Woodlands.

When officials got there they found James Patrick McCleary, 19, of The Woodlands, was dead at the scene. A pistol was found in the vehicle.

Detectives determined that the shooting incident occurred in the car as McCleary and three friends, all between ages 19 and 21, were examining a pistol. One young man accidently fired the gun while handling the weapon.

Michael Authur Galloway, Jr., 21, was arrested and charged with criminal negligent homicide. He was taken to the Montgomery County Jail.

The investigation is on-going.
