Man sentenced in beating of gay HCC student
HOUSTON
A judge today sentenced Terrance Calhoun to 120 days in jail for aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon. The victim, Lance Reyna, said Calhoun had a knife when he beat and robbed him in the bathroom of a Houston Community College campus in June.
Reyna said Calhoun used a homosexual slur during the attack, but Calhoun denies saying it.
"I feel reality finally kicked in and he realized there's a consequence, and as far as genuinely, I couldn't say he would have taken back what he did," said Reyna.
The judge will revisit sentencing after 120 days and could put Calhoun on probation or send him to prison.
Calhoun, 22, pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery with a deadly weapon in September. He has a prior conviction on a drug possession in 2007.
