Where does Houston rank on list of worst commutes?
HOUSTON
Houston placed third on the top ten list of cities with the worst commute. On average, Houston drivers spend an extra 56 hours a year stuck in traffic. That bad commute winds up costing us around $300 a month on auto expenses and around $200 a month on gas.
However, we're not the nation's absolute worst -- and we're not even the worst in Texas. Dallas took the top spot. Drivers there lost about 53 hours each year in traffic, but spent about $400 per month on auto expenses.
San Jose, California was number two on the list. Austin, Texas also cracked the top ten, coming in at number eight.
