Constable Trevino wanted to thank the public for its diligence in calling in to report crimes and help get the guns off the street.
He said, "I just want to thank the community and let them know that now we're going to have less weapons on the street, guns that more than likely fall in the hands of gangs or cartels. The fact is that the people have been involved in this. They start the calls. The people call us."
Constable Trevino said a private company will destroy the weapons.
