Search teams find truck in bayou

HOUSTON Witnesses say the driver of a white pickup truck was speeding down the Normandy exit at around 2:30am and ran through the guardrail along the feeder road. Police believe the pickup was involved in an earlier accident in the downtown area and was trying to flee the scene of the wreck.

A witness says because he is familiar with the sharp curve at the underpass, he drove down to check it out and found a damaged guardrail and tracks leading into the water and no sign of that pickup truck.

An HPD dive team and helicopter searched the bayou. Just before 11am, they located the white pickup and pulled it from the water. There's no immediate word about the driver.

The frontage road is being blocked, but the accident isn't causing major traffic issues in the area.
