Mystery surrounds deadly shooting in SW Houston

HOUSTON Police say the male victim was inside his apartment in the 7000 block of Gulfton about 2:30am with an unknown suspect who shot him several times. The suspect then ransacked the victim's apartment and fled the scene in an unknown vehicle.

The victim, 30, was found outside his apartment pleading for help before he was transported to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital. He was pronounced dead at the hospital. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

The investigation is continuing.
