Marine from Spring killed in Afghanistan laid to rest

HOUSTON Flags lined the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in northwest Harris County this morning for the funeral of Lance Corporal Shane R. Martin. The 23 year old from Spring was killed last month in Helmand Province.

Martin was a graduate of Klein Collins High School.

Family and friends were touched by the outpouring of support from people who didn't even know martin.

"I did not expect to see the amount of emotion that I did from such a broad spectrum of attendees," said friend Sam Larch.

After the funeral, Martin's flag-draped coffin was escorted to Houston National Cemetery to be buried with full military honors.
