The owner of a downtown Houston jitney company can keep his vehicles. Yesterday, the city council approved a new jitney ordinance requiring the vehicles to have nine or more seats. However, Rev Eco-Shuttle gets an exception for its existing six-seat jitneys. While the owner cannot expand with more six-seaters, he can continue to operate.

The city council created the ordinance so the jitneys do not compete with cabs.
