State trooper shoots suspect after chase

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, TX It happened at the end of a pursuit along the North Freeway and Longstreet near Willis. Police say they tried to pull the man over after he was clocked going over 100 miles per hour, but he kept going. When the chase finally ended, authorities say a physical altercation ensued and the trooper opened fire.

EMS in Montgomery County says the suspect received a gunshot wound to the lower back, but was conscious when airlifted to a hospital in Houston. He was listed in critical condition.

The Department of Public Safety, Montgomery County authorities, and the Texas Rangers are all investigating.
