Fort Bend ISD finalizes budget amid cuts

HOUSTON In part, the district is cutting bus routes for students who live within two miles of schools. Employees will also have to pay more for their health insurance.

Earlier this year, the district cut 159 positions. Employees were told about the cuts just before the end of the school year.

Other school districts in our area are also making budget cuts. A few weeks ago, we told you Clear Creek ISD is also cutting bus routes. The district has a $4 million deficit.

In HISD, nearly 200 employees have been laid off. Houston is dealing with a $28 million budget deficit.
