HPD offers tips on how to burglarproof your home

HOUSTON HPD's Community Services Unit suggests putting clips on window frames along with extra window locks. Other tips include installing solid wood or metal doors, using three-inch screws to secure door frames to your house and getting better locks.

"The lock technology has really come a long ways in regards to the type of materials they're made out of. Make sure you have case-hardened material, make sure you have screws that are going deep enough into the wood to reinforce your doors. This will help prevent kick-in burglaries which is a problem, always has been a problem," said Senior Officer Alvin Steelman with H.P.D Public Affairs.
