Former astronaut can't end probation

ORLANDO, FL Circuit Judge Marc Lubet denied the former astronaut's request on Monday, but he changed her probation status to administrative. Under administrative probation, an offender doesn't have to report on a regular basis to a probation officer.

Nowak was sentenced to a year on probation last November after pleading guilty to third-degree felony burglary and misdemeanor battery. The former astronaut drove 1,000 miles from Houston to Orlando in 2007 to mount a bizarre attack on romantic rival Colleen Shipman.

The judge's order says Nowak will continue to have no contact with Shipman and William Oefelein, the former astronaut who was the object of Nowak's affections.
