Six hit by car in southwest Houston

HOUSTON

Out of the six people, five, including three children, were rushed to the hospital.

Police say they were all either riding or walking on the bike lane on Town Park Drive near Corporate Drive Tuesday evening when an 18-year-old driver hit them.

The Hastings High School sophomore told ABC13 he has his learner's permit and admits he was distracted.

"I was drinking a Coke, and I cannot see," he said.

The teen, who is from Thailand, was ticketed for not having insurance. However, he was not cited for a moving violation.

All the children were transported in good condition to a hospital. The two adults were in critical condition but are expected to survive.
