Man's body found inside burned apartment

HOUSTON Firefighters arrived to the Silver Springs apartments off South Willow near S. Post Oak around 11pm Thursday. They found fire in a downstairs unit, and then noticed the flames had spread upstairs and into the attic. Firefighters decided to pull a second alarm.

The man's body was found in the downstairs unit where the fire started.

"He was like in his 50s. I saw him a couple of times," said the victim's neighbor, Kenny Garcia. "He was a nice guy, you know. He was always quiet."

Arson detectives are investigating.
