Construction to shut down Gulf Freeway

HOUSTON Beginning at 9pm, Wednesday, April 28, crews will close the north- and southbound mainlanes of I-45 from FM 518 to Bay Area Boulevard. All lanes will be reopened to traffic by 5am, Thursday, April 29. Motorists will be detoured to the frontage road.

In addition, the I-45 northbound entrance ramp from NASA Road 1 and southbound entrance ramp from NASA Bypass will be closed during the same time period. Motorists traveling northbound can use the Bay Area Boulevard entrance ramp and those traveling southbound can use the FM 518 entrance ramp.

These closures are necessary for the contractor to safely hang the new overhead sign structure in conjunction with the I-45 widening project. This $36 million project is estimated to be complete this summer.

All closures are subject to change due to inclement weather.
