Air travelers to see tougher security

ATLANTA, GA Many spring break travelers are about to have their first encounter with the system that might see travelers scanned, swabbed or thoroughly patted down, or even all three.

The Obama administration is committing tens of millions of dollars to deploy more state-of-the-art screening equipment, and it is tightening enforcement of some older security measures.

Security lines are expected to grow as the extra measures are rolled out and travel demand picks up. Airlines, meanwhile, worry the government will require them to pay to maintain the checkpoints.

Fliers say they are understanding, but some say they're still bothered by the extra time it might take.
